SIG ANNOUNCES 1999 THESIS/DISSERTATION AWARD

History of Reading News. Vol.XXII No.1 (1998:Fall)

The History of Reading Special Interest Group announces its annual competition for an outstanding thesis and/or dissertation in the history of reading or reading instruction. The winning thesis and/or dissertation will be announced at the SIG's meeting in San Diego in May. Deadline to apply for the 1999 award is January 15, 1999. Apply to Dr. Janet A. Directions for Applying. Applicants must submit four copies of an abstract of no fewer than 15 and no more than 25 typewritten pages including bibliography. The application must be accompanied by a statement on official university letterhead from the faculty sponsor attesting to the degree and date of its award. The applicant's degree can be in any discipline; however, the thesis or dissertation must be a historical research project related to reading and must have been completed between January 1997 and December 1998. Finalists must submit the entire thesis or dissertation if requested to do so. Photocopying and mailing costs for this will be reimbursed by the SIG.
