The location will be in the Hyatt Regency, Ballroom B. Speakers and their topics include Joseph Zimmer, Saint Bonaventure University, Saint Bonaventure, NY: "Andrew Carnegie--His Impact on American Reading"; Thecla M. Spiker, Duquesne University, Glenshaw, PA: "Dick and Jane Go to Church: A History of the Cathedral Readers"; Suzanna J. Iverson, "History of the Debate Between Whole-Word and Phonics Methods: 1965-1969"; and Phyllis Schantz, Trinity University, San Antonio, TX: "The First Grade Studies of the 1960s Revisited." The session will be chaired by Joseph Zimmer.
